Fallen Feathers Trilogy
Fallen Feathers is the story of Ophelia; an angel, and Nessa; a demon, who have been in love for thousands of years, but cannot admit their feelings, as relationships are forbidden by both Heaven and Hell.
I have recently completed this trilogy of books, and I am working on getting them published. Please contact me for any more information about these books.
Synopsis of book one:
Nessa is a demon and Ophelia is an angel. They shouldn’t even be friends. They are actually official rivals; each representing their realm in the North of England, but really they are madly in love. The two have been best friends for thousands of years, since they discovered that surprisingly their morals tend to align, but over the years they grew to love each other. With growing unrest between Heaven and Hell, the two must discover how far they are willing to go for each other and whether their love is stronger than their fear.
Screenwriting/Scriptwriting
I am a very passionate script writer and am always looking for new opportunities to work on new projects.
Of course, as a historian and life-long history lover, I am always drawn to period pieces and anything with a historical theme. I am fascinated in the people of the past and how they lived their lives. I love stories that focus on rich characters and people can relate to, bringing history to life by showcasing humans rather than facts, or epic action scenes full of mindless bloodshed. Of course, those things did happen, but I would love to focus on the people involved and how their lives were affected by the events and times they lived through. I am also particularly interested in historical stories that include LGBT+ characters. I love to explore the hidden stories of queer people living hundreds of years in the past. I love the idea of showing how they lived, loved and coped, when for so long it was almost suggested that they never existed.

Finished Scripts
HAZELWOOD HALL: An eight-part historical series with a big twist. Co-written with my sister Tansy Smithson. We have 8 one hour long episodes and a series bible along with plans for a further three series. Please contact me for more information about these scripts.
BUTTERFLY FARM: A LGBT film set during World War Two. This script is available for commission.
Logline: A devoted mother who is evacuated with her young daughter during World War 2 finds herself falling in love with the woman she is staying with, forcing her to question her marriage, and whole life.
MOVING ON: A supernatural play with a LGBT theme set just after World War Two. This script is currently entered into a competition, but I welcome enquiries about it.
Logline: It is hard for Esme to move on after her husband dies in the war, mainly because his ghost is still right beside her. She struggles to re-enter society when everyone piles pity onto her, pity she doesn't need, because as far as she concerned, all is as it was. Soon, when Esme meets Millie, it is her husband who encourages her to try to move on.
West End Best Friend
I currently write articles and review musicals and other theatre shows in the North of England for the well-known theatre blog and news site West End Best Friend. I have reviewed major touring musicals on their press nights, written articles covering World Book Day, International Women's Day and Mother's Day and have recently begun a series that discusses the historical context behind musicals.
Below are my most recent reviews and articles.
The Historians Magazine
I recently wrote an article for The Historians Magazine included in their Empires Edition. My article was called 'The Grandmother of Europe' and it was about the legacy Queen Victoria left with her children and grandchildren.
